A short guide to help you dress, choose a setting, and get ready for a session that feels like the two of you.

Timeless in the photos, easy in the moment.

What to wear...


Keep the palette classic and neutral so the two of you - not your wardrobe - are what the eye lands on.

If one of you naturally gravitates toward more vibrant color, use it as an accent, not the whole vibe.

Skip:

small prints and stripes - florals, polka dots, gingham, stripes, and busy patterns of any kind. They read as noise in photos and compete with each other when you're standing close together. Even certain prints and stripes will swirl in camera and there is no editing fix for it. Solids and subtle texture photograph best.

Where to shoot - Nashville


Be mindful when planning as many locations now require a fee and permits. It is always best to call ahead and check on their requirements but here is a few of our favorites in Nashville.

 

City Vibes

 

  1. Capital Buildings - no requirements and plenty of architecture.
  2. Commerce Street - if you love more of the city vibes, the big buildings, lots of glass - we love this area and around the Regions building with plenty of photo opportunities for more of a modern vibe.

 

 

Centennial Park

 

The Parthenon and open lawns - timeless, easy to shoot.

 

 

Percy Lake

 

If you love the water & sailing, there is a sailboat company that allows rentals for photo sessions.

 

 

Hotels, etc

 

These are definitely the ones to call and talk to if you are looking for the editorial bar moments.

  1. The Nash (formally The Bobby) - We do know from personal experience requires you to be a guest.
  2. The Hermitage - requires a fee
  3. The Omni - our couple called here and they did allow photography as long as we were mindful and didn't disrupt guests but always call prior as things change.
  4. This isn't a hotel but the library is also a good one - we did hear that photography was no longer allowed but recently heard otherwise but regardless an appointment is required from what we were told.

We know that's not a formal long list but these are ones we have personally worked with.

 

Where to Shoot - 30A

 

Grayton Beach

 

We love Grayton - from the beach to the trails with the sand dunes. It provides a great mix!

 

 

Downtown PCB

 

If the beach isn't your vibe - we understand. Downtown gives classic editorial vibes.

 

 

Eden gardens

 

Perfect location for soft light, beautiful scenery from the palms to the Spanish moss hanging from the trees.

 

 

Alys Beach

 

We do personally know that a permit is required to shoot here and from what we were told you may even have to be residents but that is definitely a phone call to make.

 

Hair & Makeup


We work with Britney Moya of RockMeUpMakeup for Nashville Sessions. Booking her ahead of time means your hair and makeup are ready to hold through changing light and multiple outfits. Brittany has personally been working with Britney since 2022 on multiple events and she is the hair and makeup artist for all of her boudoir sessions.


Emerald Coast: Marissa of Cosmic Glow & Co is who we highly recommend there. Again, Brittany and Marissa have personally worked together multiple times.
